Nunavut Voices 5

2019

If you ever walked on the frozen snow of Nunavut, you would know the sound of solitude. In spite of (or because of) their desolate and austere environment, the Inuit have found a way to rejoice. They sing! The Inuit "Throat Singing" celebrates all of the natural world and Nature. It comes from the depth of the Earth itself. I have sought to express the vibrancy of the throat singing sounds through shape and color. It is earthy, gripping, and compelling.
